Step 1: Identify a Replicable Legal Pathway

Find a viable and replicable way to file a lawsuit against the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) or the United Nations itself for their insufficient climate action.

This method must avoid relying on obscure legal systems or loopholes that wouldn't stand up in multiple jurisdictions. Instead, the route you identify should be straightforward enough for others to follow, making it possible to file the same lawsuit in different legal frameworks around the world.

While you don't need to file the lawsuit yourself, if you choose to take that step, we will fully support your efforts.

Step 2: Share Your Method with Us

Submit your legal pathway through the contact form on the website by October 31, 2024.

Step 3: Claim Your Reward

The person to submit the most viable legal strategy will receive €5,000 to put their idea into action.

Step 4: Make Your Idea Reality

The €5,000 is for you to follow through on your idea. You will have six months to actualise your plan.

There are many ways to explore this challenge, and here are some ideas to inspire your approach:

Start a Viral Campaign:
- You could launch a viral social media campaign, rallying global support by collecting signatures from people concerned about the devastating consequences of climate inaction.

Write a Research Paper:
- If you're a legal practitioner or student, writing a detailed research paper investigating the legal protections around institutions like the UNFCCC could pave the way for future lawsuits.

File a Lawsuit Yourself:
- For those who prefer hands-on action, you may file the lawsuit directly if you identify a legal pathway to do so.

Whether you follow one of these paths or identify your own, we ask that you submit a three- and six-month report detailing your steps and the end result.

Good luck!
